The Incredible Gospel of Jesus
Part 4
The Meaning of Life
A Royal Destiny
How is it that a mere mortal can have the incredible power just by
believing they have it as Jesus declares; an all powerful nature
considered by orthodox theology to an exclusive power of God? The
Bible promises the most incredible rewards for humanity;
immortality, unconditional love, absolute wisdom and truth, total
freedom, and unlimited power. Are these not the very characteristics
attributed to the beings called God in scripture?
Yhovah, the Lord God, and Creator was very clear about the nature
of man:
♦
"I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most
High." (Psalms 82:6)
And when Yhovah, the Lord God, and creator became the human, Jesus,
(see the first chapter of John), he repeated it, by quoting himself:
♦
"Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye
are gods?" (John 10:34)
Yhovah, the Lord God, and Creator of the Old Testament even said
he made man to look like an Elohiym:
♦
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the
fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and
over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God
created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:26 - 27)
Yhovah also declared that man had reached a level so close to the
level of the Elohiym that he must be prevented from becoming an
eternal being:
♦
"And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to
know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take
also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:" (Genesis
3:22)
Yhovah had to actually place a guarding force to prevent man from
getting to the Tree of Life, the source that could make him eternal:
♦
"So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden
of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to
keep the way of the tree of life." (Genesis 3:24)
As further proof this is true, these verses show what destiny
awaits mankind:
♦
Psalms 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son
of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little
lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou
hast put all things under his feet.
♦
1 Corinthians 15:42. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It
is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43. It is sown
in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is
raised in power: 44. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a
spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual
body. 45. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living
soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46. Howbeit that
was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and
afterward that which is spiritual. 47. The first man is of the
earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48. As is the
earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly,
such are they also that are heavenly. 49. And as we have borne the
image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit
the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed, 52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall
be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53. For this
corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on
immortality. 54. So when this corruptible shall have put on
incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then
shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory.
♦
2 Corinthians 3:17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the
Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18. But we all, with open
face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into
the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the
Lord.
♦
Philippians 3:20. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence
also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21. Who shall
change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his
glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to
subdue all things unto himself.
♦
Hebrews 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the
world to come, whereof we speak. 6 But one in a certain place
testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the
son of man that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower
than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst
set him over the works of thy hands: 8 Thou hast put all things in
subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection
under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see
not yet all things put under him.
One of the first questions a child asks at the first concept of the
certainty of death is what happens when a human dies. Mankind has
devoted uncounted hours of research and anxiety pondering this very
question. There are as many theories about the answer to this
perpetually elusive concept as there are humans considering it. No
doubt great fortunes have been offered in the quest to solve this
enigma, and entire cultures are often defined by their answer to
this age-old question. What is most enigmatic about this "mystery"
is that it is clearly answered, in simple terms, in scripture:
♦
"The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by
reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away."(Psalms
90:10)
And here:
♦
"Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit
of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?" (Ecclesiastes 3:21)
The Ultimate Fail Safe Condition
Power is achieved, bought, stolen, and extorted, yet there is still
no limit known to the depths to which members of the human race will
sink to acquire it. The quest for power is littered with the bones
of its perpetual abuse. The very embodiment of evil in the Bible is
the result of a disastrous lust for power on a universal scale. The
perfect answer to the control of such power is found in the
wonderful destiny humanity is to inherit. By becoming members of the
Family of God, the control will come from within. As a member of the
royal family of the Gods, fully aware, and dedicated to the source
of all power and control, all those receiving such power will
receive the absolute control over that power. God will control it
because they will be gods.
